2007/2008 Sand Dune Update

As you may know, in 2005 the state of New Jersey required all beaches along the shore to keep an approximately four foot fence up year round.  The fences are designed to aid in the formation of a sand dune.

As a result, the view from the ocean front homes has been impacted.

Sand dunes aid in the survival of beaches and protect homes and habitats further inshore from salt spray and sand.  Beaches, with their associated sand banks and sand dunes, are coastal shock absorbers, diffusing the impact of ocean waves.
